New! Drill Notification
Dear WHS Parents/Guardians:
Schools in New Jersey are required to conduct security drills once a month during the school year. The law requires school districts to notify students, staff, and parents when a school security drill is conducted during the school day. Additionally, students and staff are notified at the conclusion of the drill that it was just a drill and that no danger exists.
This email is to notify you that Whitehouse School held a security drill at approximately 2:30PM today. The routine security drill went smoothly.

We are Cubs of Character!!! - April is grit month at Whitehouse School. We are focusing on the importance of being steadfast when we complete a task and not giving up until the job is finished. Please continue to discuss acts of good character with your child as he/she earns your permission to shade in pieces from his/her bucket filler puzzle. Your child has already received a copy, but you can click here to download another copy of the Grit bucket.
Class Placement 2025-2026 - One of the most challenging jobs we have is placing children in classes for the coming school year. We take this task seriously and consider many variables when making each decision. For instance, we consider each child’s personality and how he or she interacts with other students. We also try to establish balanced academic groups, while addressing programmatic needs. In addition, we consider the relative compatibility of the student and teacher. Our goal is to provide the best learning environment possible for your child.
We appreciate your understanding of the importance of this decision. We also hope you understand that complying with parental placement requests makes this process much more difficult and often interferes with the goals and objectives that we have established for individual students in next year’s classes. Therefore, it is district policy not to accept requests for specific teachers.
However, if you wish to share your child’s learning style and educational needs, please do so in writing to the Main Office by Wednesday, May 1st. Requests to have or not have specific teachers cannot be honored.
You will be able to access your child’s placement for the 2024-2025 school year when the welcoming information is emailed to you in late August. We appreciate your cooperation and contribution in this important process.
Warmly,
Dr. DeRosa

Whitehouse School Celebrates Autism Awareness & Acceptance! - Autism awareness advocacy groups often ask for support by using the color blue to symbolize calmness, trust, and acceptance.
In partnership with the HSA, Whitehouse School has the following events planned to acknowledge this important cause.
- Be on the lookout for our blue ribbons outside!!
- As a school, we are bucket-fillers and complete bucket puzzles each month as a character-based educational activity. Our students know that bucket-fillers are kind and compassionate citizens who value others. This is a perfect way to help our youngest learners at the Pre-K through third-grade level connect good character with accepting differences in others. Puzzle pieces are also one of the traditional symbols to raise awareness. Dr. DeRosa is visiting each classroom to distribute plastic puzzle pieces “Cub Tags” or charms that will go on all student backpacks.
Monday, April 7: Wear a blue shirt!
Tuesday, April 8: Wear blue pants!
Wednesday, April 9: Similar to the puzzle piece, the infinity loop is also a symbol to support the cause. Therefore, all students at WHS will receive an autism infinity loop coloring page!
Thursday, April 10: Wear blue socks!
Friday, April 11: Empathy recess walks ~ The last 5 minutes of each recess will be devoted to solidarity walks on our Cub Paws path to signify our support for autism awareness and acceptance. In the event of rain, we will use an indoor route in the hallways
