    Dear Whitehouse Cub,

Welcome to third grade! I am very excited to have you in my class this year. I hope you and your family had a wonderful summer. The best thing about my summer was getting to spend time with my family and friends!

This year you will take on many different roles as you learn and grow. You will become a historian as you engage in inquiries about equality and justice, migration, and our global connections.  You will build your stamina and fluency as a reader as you enjoy both fiction and nonfiction novels. As a writer of opinion essays, personal narratives, and informational books, you will become a published author. During math, you will grow to be a mathematician who is fluent in multiplication/division facts and confident in multi-step problem solving. Our exciting science units - Structures of Life, Motion and Matter, and Weather and Climate - will transform you into a biologist, a physicist, and a meteorologist. You will learn to read and write cursive. Finally, you will continue to nurture your good character traits as we build a warm and caring classroom community. Third grade is going to be amazing!

I am looking forward to this new school year, and I hope you are, too! I can’t wait to get to know you and your classmates. We will have a wonderful time!

                                                                                             Sincerely,

                                                                                             Mrs. Razza
