K-8 Gifted and Talented Program
-
April 2024
The K-8 Gifted and Talented programs in Readington Township Schools are needs-based and align with New Jersey state standards. These programs are intended for those students who exhibit intellectual abilities requiring additional and appropriate educational challenges and opportunities to meet those needs.
Dear Parents,
A universal screener is in place to identify students for this program. Students can also be nominated for consideration for entry into the Gifted and Talented (GT) program by a teacher or parent. The purpose of the parent nomination is to provide parents with an opportunity to share information about a potentially gifted child who they feel may not have been detected by the standard screening process. A parent or teacher nomination does not guarantee entry into the Gifted and Talented program; a nomination simply means that the student's eligibility for the program will be evaluated. Eligibility criteria can be viewed by following the link below.
If your child is nominated by his/her classroom teacher, then he/she is automatically in the pool of students who are evaluated. A parent nomination is not required unless there is special information about your child you would like to share. The parent nomination form can be accessed by following the link below.
The window for parent nominations will open in February 2025, and all parent nomination forms must be completed online no later than March 21, 2025. Since the assessment process will begin immediately following the nomination deadline, late entries cannot be accepted.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me or the GT teacher in your child's school. We are all happy to help.Sincerely,Stacey BrownSupervisor of HumanitiesReadington Township Schools Gifted and Talented Teachers:
