Meet Dr. William DeFabiis, Interim Superintendent of Schools
Dr. William DeFabiis was appointed as Readington Township Interim Superintendent of Schools for the 2017-18 school year. During his 40 years' experience in education, Dr. DeFabiis served as a mathematics/computer teacher in the Union Township Public Schools, as a district supervisor in the Elmwood Park Public Schools, and the last twenty-three years as the Superintendent/Principal in the South Hackensack School District. He has also served as the Interim Superintendent in the Riverdale School District.
Dr. DeFabiis holds a B.S. in Mathematics from St. Peter’s University, a Master’s Degree in Administration and Supervision from Seton Hall University, and an Ed.D. in Social and Philosophical Foundations of Education from Rutgers University. He has taught as an adjunct instructor for four higher education institutions and is currently a part-time lecturer for the Graduate School of Education in the Department of Educational Theory, Policy and Administration at Rutgers University. Dr. DeFabiis was a 2015 recipient of the Excellence in Educational Leadership Award by the University Council for Educational Administration. During his career, Dr. DeFabiis has studied the schools in Russia and China, was a participant in the Fulbright Memorial Program sponsored by the Japanese government, and made a presentation at Oxford University on the Superintendency and Principalship.
Dr. DeFabiis is looking forward to working positively with the Board of Education, parents, community, and staff during the upcoming school year to provide the children attending the Readington Township Public Schools with a school year that is enjoyable, inspirational, and productive.
