Readington Middle School 7th Grade Student Christopher Serrao was honored at our Board of Education Meeting on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 for being named the 2019 Scripps National Spelling Bee Champion. Christopher was declared one of eight co-champions at the spelling bee held in Washington DC. Christopher survived all 20 rounds of the competition with the historic crowning of eight co-champions. Dr. Hart was proud on behalf of the district to present Christopher with a framed certificate in honor of his historic win. Christopher shared “I’m truly grateful to the Readington School District, my teachers, and friends for their constant support throughout the years. I was touched and overwhelmed by the love and support over the past few days and today’s Walk of Honor. Thank you. Our schools helped lay the foundation for my success. Even though 11 million students around the country started the journey, there are so many more that did not have the opportunity to participate. I’m grateful to our school district for participating in the spelling bee and making the investment in this endeavor. I’m thankful I had the opportunity to represent Readington Middle School at the national level and make our school district proud.” Congratulations Christopher!
