Dear 4th grader,

Welcome to fourth grade at Holland Brook School!   I am so excited to have you as a member of our class this year. I hope you and your family had a wonderful and relaxing summer and I can’t wait to hear all about it!

I am thrilled to be your teacher and I am looking forward to helping you make the transition to your new school, grade, and class.  You will be meeting new friends and exploring many different topics with them.  During the year, you will learn how to increase your reading stamina and develop your comprehension. You will write in more detail while exploring different genres. You will solve more complicated math problems individually and with a group/ partner. You will have the opportunity to conduct experiments with a group while learning about energy, organisms, and Earth materials.  You will learn more about the world around you, including right here in our own state! One of my goals is to make your fourth grade learning experience both fun and exciting, in addition to you having some time to explore your own interests.

In order to be as prepared and ready as possible for this school year, please remember to bring all of your school supplies to class as soon as possible. If you have any questions about what that includes, the supply list link is on my webpage!

I visited many places this summer, including Delaware, New York, Pennsylvania and the Jersey Shore.  I have enjoyed bike-riding, reading, hiking, kayaking, and spending time with my family and friends.  I can’t wait to start the new school year with you and hear about your summer experiences.

Fourth grade is going to be so much fun and I can’t wait to meet you and your classmates. Let’s have an amazing year together!

Looking forward to meeting you soon,

         Mrs. Patterson
